Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use images from AfricanStockPhoto for?

All images on AfricanStockPhoto are sold with a royalty-free, commercial license. This means that once you buy an image, you are allowed to use it without the need to cite the source of the image, and you can use it for both personal and commercial projects including online adverts, corporate reports, websites and billboards.

There are some restrictions about what you're allowed to do with the imagery, which you can find out about by clicking the license info on each image. Read a summary of license restrictions

Do I need an account to buy images?

You do not need to sign up to purchase on AfricanStockPhoto, you can simply add images to your cart and check out via Paypal. Note that you will need to provide an email address during checkout because we deliver our purchases via email, but this does not create an AfricanStockPhoto account and we will only use your email to deliver this purchase.

If you intend to buy at discounted rates using an Image Pack, you will need to sign up so that your remaining image credits can be redeemed at a later date.

What is an Image Pack, and what is Pay As You Go?

When purchasing on AfricanStockPhoto, you do not have to sign up for an account - you can add all the images you intend to buy to your cart and check out using PayPal (or just your credit card). You will be charged either $15 or $20 per image, depending on whether it is licensed under our Silver or Gold license.

For customers who are buying multiple images, whether all at once or over a more extended period, we offer significant bulk discounts which bring the price down to as low as $5 per image. This is done by purchasing an Image Pack - a set of download credits which you can then use over time without having to make further payments. See our Pay-as-you-go and Image Pack pricing

Why do you have two different prices for Pay-as-you-go purchases?

Images on AfricanStockPhoto come from two sources: a large network of independent photographers who have contributed their content directly to our platform, and a partner network that aggregates images from various photographers. While images from both sources can be used for commercial purposes, those from the partner network have a slightly more restrictive license called the Silver License.

Due to these restrictions, we sell our Silver License imagery at a slightly lower price point. Note that with Image Packs, images are sold at a flat discounted price that applies to all imagery on AfricanStockPhoto. Learn about silver license restrictions

How can I pay?

Our payments are processed via PayPal, which is an industry-leading online payment system. If you have a PayPal account you can purchase images using any PayPal credits you have on your account, but if you do not have a PayPal account, you can still check out using PayPal and pay using a valid credit or debit card.

What if I don't have a PayPal account?

In most cases PayPal lets you check out using a credit or debit card, without signing up for an account. Occasionally, depending on your location, you may be required to complete a PayPal signup to check out with your card. This is a security feature enforced by PayPal to reduce credit card fraud.

If you do not have access to a credit or debit card to make a purchase online, you can contact us via the chat widget in the bottom-right to arrange for alternative means of payment.

What happens after I pay?

Once you complete your PayPal payment, you'll be directed back to AfricanStockPhoto and notified that your payment is being processed by PayPal in the background. In most cases this processing does not take longer than 1 minute. Once PayPal notifies our system that your payment was successful, AfricanStockPhoto will automatically send an email with download links for your purchased images to the email address you specified while checking out.

I paid but have not received the download links

Your download links are typically delivered within a few seconds after successful PayPal payment. Please check your email inbox's spam folder in case the email was pushed there. If you regularly purchase and your emails are forwarded to your spam folder, you can save AfricanStockPhoto as a contact in your email service to avoid our emails being misclassified.

If there is a longer delay, please contact us via the chat widget in the bottom-right and we can help you get your download links.
